Good news for all universities, students and professors: TandemLauch is now accepting applications for their 2012 round of multimedia ventures.
The incubator will fund up to $1 million the development of new creative multimedia devices that will take by storm new the electronics markets. A good example is the Mirametrix technology that allows you to control a video game with the movement of your eyes, a technology that could well be used in all video games consoles. In that example, the technology is patentable, can be easily licensed to major video games manufacturers, and was developed in less than a year.
Invent new components for smartphones and more
Apart from image recognition and video capture, TandemLaunch is now receiving applications from other fields as well: display technologies (think displays for tablets), audio processing, natural speech recognition, and all new technologies that can enhance our current technology devices.
Look around you, and most people these days are mostly buying either the latest smartphone, a new tablet (instead of a PC), and for the end of the year, they’re getting a Xbox360 + Kinect. So if you can think of ways to enhance those devices, leverage your current research and knowledge, and if you’re interested in commercializing a product, you could be the next inventor of hot components for new iPhones and new Androids!
Get business and engineering support
Apart from funding, Tandem Launch also provides commercialization support, with a full-time staff of marketers, PR personel, and business development. Of course, they also have bright engineers to design all the systems needed to build a working electronic prototype. Read more on how Tandem Launch works.

The race is on!
Of course, TandemLaunch work in close association with universities, so if you’re working on electronics in a hacker space, on your free time, it’s not going to work well. One good thing though is that TandemLaunch is not especially targeting Montreal, and applicants from all over the world are encouraged to submit their invention.
