vuru was presented today at FounderFuel demo day as a breakthrough in the finance world, much alike expedia or airbnb revolutionnized their respective industries by giving back the control to final customers.
With a simple and easy-to-use page for each stock, vuru lets self-directed investors reach a qualified decision. Assumptions can be tweaked, and compared to other stocks, giving the investor that extra edge he doesn’t get from Yahoo or Google Finance. Of course, users can also dig through the numbers, at any level, making it the investor’s best friend for long evenings or rainy weekends.
The product in itself is very impressive, showing a good design and product sense… although from a pure outsider’s view, I haven’t seen major changes from their beginnings, 12 weeks ago. I still think a few comments from trusted investors or friends would make a big difference, or perhaps the ability to aggregate information, much alike expedia does, making it a reference site.
As other FounderFuel sites, there’s also a focus on distribution, with the startup announcing distribution deals, from universities, to popular investment sites. The service also received accolades and good press from the investment community, making it apparently the best investment tool for self-directed investors. That’s a market of 44 millions in North America alone, a market perhaps smaller than other startups, but with a (potential) higher ARPU per user, the huge potential is definitively there.
Congrats to the vuru team! Check out vuru
