Willet has a little neat trick for ecommerce sites. Visitors who are casually browsing products are invited to ask their friends if they should buy or not the product. The call to action question is plugged into Facebook, and presented as if it was a dire question for the user. It’s fun, simple and turns friends into potential leads. More importantly, it provides social proof and social validation for the original visitor, meaning much higher conversion rates for the ecommerce site owner.

For most consumer products, this idea should be a hit. Think all the casual sellers on shopify, magento, etsy that are wondering if the latest piece of clothing is they should indulge into or not. That’s billions of potential sales, and I also like that it turns your visitors into more engaged customers. The simplicity of the plug-in idea is also smart, on the product integration side, and demonstrates the team’s savvinness in marketing and sales tactics.

This new product is one of amongst many that the team has tried in recent months, and it’s perhaps the most refined. Others listed on their sites such as BitWillet.com are interesting for early adopters, but perhaps not attractive to most casual shoppers.

Congrats to the Willet team!
