Montreal Tech Watch

Montreal-based startup Ajah has launched today TheSector, an ambitious online database of non-profit organizations. Visitors can search for a specific NGO, with successful queries showing background information, sources of revenues, activities, board of directors, all within a readable & user-friendly page. For instance, you can see here the page about Médecins Sans Frontières Canada.

TheSector

Analysts, executives, and institutional donators should be also interested in the aggregated sector data (example)

The service is completely free and aims to help non-profits to assess how other organizations perform. In Ajah’s introductory blog post, their team also promise constantly updated information. One can guess they are leveraging the data their customers have already entered into fundtracker to bring online TheSector.

It’s a useful search service by Ajah that should interest all non-profits. Since it’s free, it should also provide daily visibility to Ajah’s main product, Fundtracker. Nonprofits will be able to see the extensiveness of Ajah’s database, and it is in a way a preview of Ajah’s service.

Congrats to the Ajah team!
