For a technology topic which was relatively unheard of in Montreal, Jean-François Kitchiguine (@jfkitchiguine) has succeeded in bringing together application developers, professionals as well as a mixed crowd of curious Montréalers interested into this new technology. It’s as if someone decided to create a 3D image capture in Montréal and gets overnight 20 or 30+ people ready to discuss hours about the new technology. The fact that there were so many people at the ARTML is to me proof that Montréalers are hungry for new ventures, new technologies and innovation… and perhaps that’s why most of us love the city.
For this meetup, Jean-François arranged a skype presentation with renowned scientist Alex Hill, with an elaborate state-of-the art presentation of current ARMTL standardization efforts. Overall, it shows it’s still underworks, and if any has ideas on working on augmented reality, now is the time to get a headstart since you’ll be actively involved in the technology’s definition.
The team behind MixAR also gave a detailed presentation of their project
Thanks to Station-C for hosting the event, and thanks to Jean-François for organizing ARMTL!
