Montreal Tech Watch

2011 Here we come

By Heri Dec 31st 2010 in entrepreneurship

As 2010 finishes, we’ve seen small and big initiatives in technologies this year in Montreal, with now a strong diversity in the different groups and actors in the technology scene.

There were many local companies releasing innovative products, with also new smaller companies getting funded or working hard on research and development. In Montreal, gaps in funding, community or talent seem all memories of the past. And ahead of us, all indicate strong economic activity. Overall, technology innovation looks thus less risky than before, with known ways to develop a good technology product.

We’ve seen also local groups such as phpQuebec working on big web conferences such as confoo, or also other local groups getting in touch with CS students. Really, it’s a year where the technology scene has matured, getting more diversity and strength.

Today, I hope all this “community commoditization” where the resources, information and talent are provided for and nurtured to the newcomer doesn’t mean the end of breakthrough innovations. That’s why I hope that for 2011 everyone who reads MontrealTechWatch will always have the passion and drive to push for innovation and go beyond his/her comfort zone... hoping also that mtw help encourage or ignite that passion.

Have a great 2011 for you, your loved ones, and your projects!
