smartr

Who hasn’t wished all the links from your network would be available on a single, user-friendly interface? Smartr, a new iPhone application, does just that by retrieving all the links and filter out spam. No more conversations, personal status updates, chatter, Smartr just displays links. Most recent items are placed on top, and items can be saved or sent to other services such as instatpaper or tumblr.

It’s interesting to see that Twitter is getting all the attention and traffic. A while ago, portals, blogs, RSS feeds allowed news-hungry users to discover and be up-to-date. Now, as proven by the proliferation of apps such as reeder or paper.li, it turns out users are more interested in links provided by friends & followers, as if its social utility mattered more than the real information. As an iPhone application, I can see users checking Smartr during commuting or breaks, so that they could something to discuss with their friends and coworkers, and be on top.

The iphone page mentions a beautiful app, and I hope they will invest even more time and efforts on the application’s design. They’re competing with applications like reeder, acclaimed as having one of the best UI.

Smartr was developed by factyle, a Montreal-based company by Temo Chalasani (@temc). Factyle is now looking for more good iOS and JS developers.
