Montreal Tech Watch

For those who are motivated by the potential of technology and open data, there’s an open “hackathon” organized by MontrealOuvert tomorrow at Station-C, with the goal of designing and developing applications using Montréal data.

There’s already 24 people registered for the event, with a mix of developers, graphic and product designers, and more people are welcomed. The schedule is on a wiki here, with a participative spirit not far away from the early BarCamps or the more recent startupweekends. There are new proposals, but also developers who are looking to improve existing applications, such as resto-net.ca

I invite all those interested in open data to participate in the event, even those who do have (yet) the technical skills. The wikileaks cablegate highlights the power of open information and how open data can significantly change and influence governance.
