Best of MontrealHackers.com, Part 4

By Julien Desrosiers Oct 6th 2010 in Development

It’s been a while since the last Best of MontrealHackers.com article. But since then we got a lot of articles in the Montreal Hacker scene. And not just in Ruby, Bash or Javascript. This time we’re also featuring some PHP and C# articles!

Rob Britton talks about his experience with the C# language. Some nice points are covered.
There’s this cool quote from the article: In a nutshell, I would describe C# as “Java done right”.

In his article, Delano Mandelbaum introduces us to the practice of treating tests as sample code, with his new Gem called Tryouts.

For the PHP hackers this time, Jason Lotito explains how to install and setup Doctrine ORM alongside Zend Framework.

Cedric Dugas is showing us a neat little trick in Javascript: Method Chaining. The same kind of thing is used in jQuery. But you can apply this logic to any Javascript code. jQuery or not!

Joel Perras explains how to use Screen to keep your IRC session open all the time. This can be quite useful for keeping track of the discussions that happened even when you were offline.

Note: From now on, the Best of MontrealHackers.com series of posts will be monthly. This will ensure a more awesome quality for these posts. See you in November!
