Position: Executive Director

Responsibilites and Tasks:
Created in 2003, Île sans fil is a Montreal-based social enterprise that has developped both an innovative technology and a sustainable business model that have allowed it to become a leader in the delivery of wireless internet access in Montreal. It is recognized across Canada and interntionally.

With major new developments in the near future, Île sans fil is looking for someone who is ready for a challenge. If you are an entrepreneur at heart, if you “get” the web and open-source, and if you have an affinity for the non-profit sector, we should talk.

• Under the direction of the board of administrators, plan and carry out the activities of Île sans fil.
• Contribute to the creation of policies for the management of human, financial, material and information resources and ensure their application.
• Develop action plans which allow the organization to accomplish it’s mission and ensure it’s continued organizational development.
• Initiate and maintain positive and productive relationships with government organizations, members, and partners.
• Assume primary responsibility for the financing of the organization, as well as managing the human resources and budgeting.
• Coordinate and support staff and ensure a stimulating and positive work environment.
• Ensure synergy between program areas.
• Act as a representative of the organization and be responsible for the communications of the organization.

Requirements:

• Eight years experience in a related field (ex: non-profits, technology) with four years experience in a management or coordinator position.
• Knowledge of the issues surrounding the appropriation of information and communication technologies by citizens.
• Experience in project management, fundraising, and financial management.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills (verbal and written).

Ideally, the executive director of the organization would possess knowledge of the following domains:

• WiFi technologies
• Communicating via social media
• The culture of open source software
• Excellent knowledge of French and English written and spoken is required.
