Montreal Tech Watch

Tungle.me's new board members

Tungle revelead this morning a new board of advisors, all of them superstars of the web. There’s Robert Scoble, mr alpha geek, star blogger and video blogger, with all the superlatives not strong enough for him. Don Dodge, another new advisor, has a very similar profile to Robert Scoble. He is a tech evangelist, also worked at Microsoft, and now working on developing google’s platform. Scott Stratten is a viral marketing expert, with a focus on customer engagement. Ellen Levy is the fourth advisor. She is Vice-President of Strategic Alliances at linkedin. Unlike the first three, she’s less about social community management, but has a key position in a company which has the same market as tungle’s. Finally there’s Dave McClure, dynamic entrepreneur, a character you’ve all seen at the last startupcamp.

It’s indeed an all-stars line-up, an accomplishement for Marc Gingras (twitter @mgingras). I asked him if this meant potential partnerships with key Silicon Valley companies:

When we looked at bringing them on board, we didn’t focus on company affiliation, we wanted to get the right people with the right experience and industry insights. Each of them bring a different perspective and focus. Our focus is to build a killer company and we wanted brainpower to help us make it happen.

It’s exciting to see a Montreal startup growing. The press release has interesting key figures: Tungle.me is used to schedule meetings in over 30 percent of Fortune 100 companies, over 700 Universities, and in more than 100 countries around the globe. Marc also alluded to 30% month-to-month growth, and a focus on revenues. I just hope tungle thinks about organizing an “open doors” event so that we could also get a chance to talk (or listen to) to their star advisors!

Note: the picture above features Don Dodge, Ellen Levy, Dave McClure and Robert Scoble. Sorry for @unmarketing who isn’t in the picture. It all boils down to having a 400px wide image. But I hope to meet him in person and feature a full portrait on @mtw

Startups solve problems. So if you find a problem there’s probably a startup idea lying somewhere nearby.
