MontrealStartup announces $2M additional funding from SolidarityFund QFL (0)
MontrealStartup has announced that they’ve secured $2 million from Solidarity Fund QFL (ou FTQ en français), which adds up to the first $3 million from Investissement Québec and from various entrepreneurs and businessmen from Montreal and Québec.
See the original post here on MSU’s objectives and business model.
The press release for the new funding reiterates MontrealStartup’s commitment to work with early-stage ventures in Montreal, by providing them both funding & guidance, until they are “venture-ready”.
The funding is very good news, and is in a sense, a validation of MSU’s model, a validation which is well-earned, since John Stokes and Daniel Drouet are almost the only investors who go to every tech and entrepreneur-related event in Montreal, and also meet entrepreneurs in the field. The new funding will ensure MontrealStartup will work with more startups, and a sign of the fund’s long-term viability.
MontrealStartup also announced investmens in Mobilize Central, KeenKong, The Book Oven, and Oneeko.
Mobilize Central is a SMS gateway for North America. Its main advantage seems to being able to offer a quick & easy-to-use solution for publishers, media companies or even a blogger who would want to get revenues from customers with premium SMS.
The Book Oven is one of those stealth startups which hasn’t launched the product yet, but has a blog to drive an early audience.
Oneeko is a screen sharing application integrated with skype, which should be a great product for telecommuters, sales people, or support teams.
KeenKong is the 4th venture, and doesn’t have an official website yet.
