Report: Tech Entrepreneur Breakfast

By Heri Aug 12th 2008 in Design

Thanks to everyone who came this morning for the Tech Entrepreneur Breakfast!

Montreal Tech breakfast, August

Between 30 to 35 people came, which is a record for the breakfast. We had new faces, new entrepreneurs, pros working in diverse startups in town, many having new projects. We even had one guy (or girl) who left and forgot to pay for his benedectine eggs! An investigation has been started!

All in all, a great event. There should be a brand new spot for next time, perhaps with a bit more organization (or perhaps even less, who knows…), but as usual, it’ll setup it so that people can have great conversations; share about them and their projects & experiences.

Now, everyone needs to go back to work! :)

More pictures of the event *yeah, it’s poor cameraphone quality.

Startups solve problems. So if you find a problem there’s probably a startup idea lying somewhere nearby. A Montreal developer Kenji Williams developed an app called twtspire.com that scours twitter and automatically detects tweets from people that wonder why a solution doesn’t exist for a specific problem they’re having. Here are example of tweets from [...]

Hey well thats a first, I *did not* pay breakfest! I left in such a hurry not to get a parking ticket that I forgot about the bill.

I’ll make it to Montreal StartupDrinks (Wed Aug 27) if I owe someone money and a beer.

    Wow! Someone fessed up! Hahaha.

Unfortunately I couldn’t make it this morning, just too darned busy these days. But I’m very happy for the turnout!

Well, too bad I couldn’t attend this time again. The place looks crowded, maybe it’s time for a new place?

Jonathan, you owe MarcLaporte (.com) beers for an evening. He’s the one who paid for the breakfast. (yeah, the same Marc from CodeFest and TikiWiki)

Heri, if it wasn’t for this site i wouldn’t have stumbled on this event. thank you so much for your involvement in it. Who knew there were so many geeks in montreal??! i’m still dumbfounded. For the next venue, may I suggest Chez Cora on du Parc or Drummond (http://tinyurl.com/chez-cora-montreal). Both locations are downtown, open at 6h and have space to accommodate larger groups.
