Apple Frenzy on Ste-Catherine

By Heri Jul 25th 2008 in Events

I am at the new Apple store on Ste-Catherine street and I can see 30 vendors in blue and orange T-Shirts, all cheering madly, and high-fiving people entering the store, giving T-Shirts away and making customers and Montrealers who waited for the store’s opening feel like they’ve just won the gold medal or finished a marathon.

I have even in front of me 4 Apple specialists singing on karaoke, following the music in the store.

The store in itself is all in glass, alumunium, with touches of wood. Apple computers and iPod touch are on the ground floor, while accessories, software and support (the Genius Bar) is on the second floor.

Unfortunately, they don’t sell iPhones, even if you can still try a couple of them; nor do they have any special discounts for the store’s opening. Still, it’s now without doubt the #1 destination for Apple fans and consumers in Montreal now.

Photos (sorry about the poor quality, it’s a camera phone):

Startups solve problems. So if you find a problem there’s probably a startup idea lying somewhere nearby. A Montreal developer Kenji Williams developed an app called twtspire.com that scours twitter and automatically detects tweets from people that wonder why a solution doesn’t exist for a specific problem they’re having. Here are example of tweets from [...]

How is that poor quality?! What type of phone and camera specs? I’m really curious as it is quite decent.

Great to have our own real apple store, and the first Canadian flag ship here in Montreal. Thumbs up for the t-shirt design, nice reference to the local favorite sport.

You can kind of see me in one of your photos lol… chatting with a Mac Specialists ;)

I’m guessing you also waited nearly 1 hour to enter the store? For us, it was entirely worth it.

I came at around 5.15pm, took a couple of pictures, and then chatted with a couple of people I knew. Waiting in line took about 30min but it was worth it.

So which photo is it? the photo of the first floor?

Thanks for the photos Heri. I’ll go visit it as soon as I get back to Montreal.
