Montreal Tech Watch

Accedian networks, a telecom equipment provider, has received yesterday Feb 14th a total of $7.5 million in series B funding from RHO Canada, Skypoint Capital Corp and Solidarity Fund QFL. Accedian previously closed $4 millin in series A funding in March 2006.

Accedian networks offers solutions and products for carriers and telecom companies in order to provide guaranteed performance, managed SLAs, tracking of packet transport and administration and maintenance of networks, even if this involves multiple carriers, multiple networks and multiple vendors, based on their own “unique” technology.

Accedian’s technology worked previously for Ethernet networks, but their technology also works now on 3G/4G and wimax.

Now, I have to admit I don’t have any idea of what their technology does in regards to packets, and in which layer they are working in. Their website present their technology as a magic black box that will solve all your network’s problems. Here is one thing though: I think high-speed wireless networks like wimax are the future, so I’d say Accedian networks has bright days in front of them.
