Just add a category called “jobs” and ask people to send html formatted offer to you by email. Simple and efficient. SimplyHired is nice (they are a fellow Garage funded company) but I tested their jobamatic and it requires a city in the US to work correctly…

http://hiddennetwork.com/ and http://www.jobcoin.com/ look like two intersting alternatives… I’ve got an invite from hiddennetwork I wanted to test for a while but never got to it (yet).

Since your blog is neutral ground: I’m going to hijack your post to point out that we (Fjord Interactive) are also looking for a couple of talented individuals to join the family. :-)

Heri – His name is Mr. Designer. OK, not really…we’ll make an announcement soon enough.

Certainly a job board here wouldn’t be competitive with Standout Jobs. In fact, we’d probably work together.

I think a local job board is a good idea. Why not right? You have a solid, local audience, targeted in the tech industry…

There are tools out there like JobThread and JobCoin that allow you to setup job boards fairly easily. I believe Fred Ngo found an open source one as well.

Or you could use SimplyHired’s Job-o-Matic.

In many cases, on niche blogs, the answer to “should I have a job board?” is “Sure, why not?” I’m fine with that…not an unreasonable answer.

Chris&Daniel: it’s not a competition with standoutjobs

on their website, they have *star* jobs globally, while the job board here will be less ambitious, it will be local, and it doesn’t have to be about ruby gurus or lead engineers.

of course, it will be filtered out if there is an abuse, either by manual selection or by paying for the listing. but I am still considering options

Job boards fill up with head hunters fast enough, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing for some, but lowers the quality of jobs offered in general. I’d prefer for you to be the filter and at least to have something good to post about :-) (three cheers for delegation!)
