Montreal Tech Watch

TagTélé launched yesterday. I don’t know if anybody knew about it – for me, it came out of nowhere. Little is known about tagtélé; I am not even sure if it is based in Montreal.

I have named it yet another video portal because it is presented as the place to find specific Quebec videos – just like tontuyau.com, tonclip.com, or radioactif.tv want to be. Except that you can’t really find Quebec videos on the website. The video resolution and the player is so-so, and you can’t embed videos to an external website either.

Oh well. It looks like that the barrier of entry for making video hubs is near 0. Does someone know if there is now an open source framework to get a video portal running?

Startups solve problems. So if you find a problem there’s probably a startup idea lying somewhere nearby. A Montreal developer Kenji Williams developed an app called twtspire.com that scours twitter and automatically detects tweets from people that wonder why a solution doesn’t exist for a specific problem they’re having. Here are example of tweets from [...]

I just visit the site and I find it very nice! Much better than Tontuyau and Tonclip..

( first, I have to say, I’m sorry if my english is limited. I used to speak only french).

This site (Tagtele.com) grow more and more everyday. Soon, it will become the first website to have on it a full 100% Quebec stuff section. We are actually searching for the name of this futur (near futur!!) part of the website. I will be the person who control what is going on on it, and how. We will create this real Quebec Video community in the next month.

I came to work with them for that main and only reason. Tontuyau.com and Tonclip.com are two stupids, no quality sites. I know a lot about them because I produce video myself (i’m a french creator living in this province of Quebec… So!).

In one month, Tagtele will be recognized as the best of the best among all the so called Quebec website of video sharing. You can be sure about. We are working really hard to reach this goal.

With respect, honesty and goodwill, everything possible can become a reality. And in this particular case, it will sure be one!

Tagtele will become something really big… I it just the beginning. It’s easy to say bad things about it for the moement. But be patient. You will be surprized!

    Hi Fred, Philippe, and Leb,

    Thanks for passing by.

The problem with tontuyau, tonclip, tagtele etc. is that there are too many players for a small market, which means that in order to succeed, you will have to be much much better than the competition.

I don’t want to discourage you at at all. I think it’s great that you work to make TagTélé succeed. It’s my opinion, I will come back to tagtélé in a few months to see the evolution.

and you guys should start a tagtele blog by the way
