Montreal Tech Watch

The Forum jeunesse de l’île de Montréal, the Conseil régional des élus de l’Île de Montréal, the Conseil des arts de Montréal and Ville de Montréal have launched artere, a portal and reference website for la relève, a fancy way to name young artists.

They have a blog, a small ads section, an events calendar, and a directory of Montreal artists. I wish they added a video section too.

I registered because I thought there was some sort of social networking but then discovered it added me to the list of Montreal artists. oh my.

    Howdy!

Not to go raining on anyone’s parade, but what’s the difference between Artere and Collection X? Or The Virtual Museum of Canada, flickr, YouTube, Terminus1525, CitizenShift, Culture.ca, or while we’re at it Archive.org? Doesn’t anyone do any research before throwing taxpayer’s money down the toilet in the name of Young Artists?

    Hi Zeke,

I think they might have a specific agenda behind the website. It is too soon to tell.

Actually, I think the website is nice. I went back to artere and it’s nice to see upcoming events, just for montreal, and for specific art categories. I didn’t feel that the websites you listed can give me this (ie focused information on Montreal artists)
