Web Agency Hue publishes Quebec blogosphere ranking (10)
I got this from a email: Hue has made a ranking of the most influent Quebec blogs. (PDF ranking here)
Interestingly, I only have one blog from the list in my feed reader, which is nayezpaspeur
About the usefulness of this list, I find that it is a complete waste of time. You can make rankings for radio shows, audience analysis for TV shows, evaluate gross readership with newspapers, but blogs are definetly not mass media. Involvement (like user commenting in your posts) are much more revealing than inbound links.

Howdy!
Ummm, I would beg to differ with your method of evaluation. While I agree that inbound links isn’t the best. To me comment counts aren’t much better. I’d add in subscribers and then mix them all up with some algorythm that combines readership split along search engine readers and direct links.
hi zeke
i agree with you. Counting comments should not be the only criteria (although i think it’s a good sign) Inbound links, RSS subscribers, unique inbound links, traffic should be added in the mix. I know feedburner gathers all of those info for you. Unfortunately, the results are not public, they provide them to their paying customers.
by the way i do think you have one the most influential blog in montreal and possibly in canada. i am wondering who banlieusardises or taxi de nuit are really “influenting”
Heri: If you are wondering who “banlieusardises” is influencing, then you’ve got some catching up to do on your Quebec blog reading! Martine Gingras has had a HUGE follow up for years now, and she has inspired a lot of people to blog and to talk about blogs. It’s because of blogs like hers that the mainstream media has finally gotten interested in the blogosphere.
Hi there!
Your suggestion is highly interesting, so far one of the best comments we read regarding ranking. In our next monthly update we will include the number of user comments in consideration.
Now, as for the general reaction, sorry you felt this was a waste of your time. =) Although I may disagree a little about your perception of blog as not being a Mass media.
If you have time for a lunch, I will be please to chat more with you and talk about our experience in the past year for the Tourism industry and for the Health industry. You could be surprised the buying power that some blog, forum or communities have over a market.
Thank you for your comments,
@Martine
I started blogging 3 months ago. so yes banlieusardises is new to me.
@andrea doyon
thanks for passing by.
i said it wasn’t useful because for me, blogs are in a “niche” and i think readership or inbound links are not relevant to the blog’s influence.
you might also break down the list into several key categories. that would be more relevant.
for me, an influent blog has a voice that is heard, whose opinion matters, who may influence decision makers. Mitch Joel’s blog definetely fall into this category.
@anonymous
@martine.
i think we all should go to Patrick’s take on the ranking

he says the reporter from Infopresse misused the word “influence”, because the title of the PDF document is not most influent but most visible blogs.
