Advantys has announced version 5.0 of Workflowgen. The software has been totally rewritten in .NET, with a new streamlined user interface. To keep up with trends, it is also buzzword compliant, with lots of “ajax” and “SOA” thrown into their product description.
On a more serious note, WorkflowGen is a very impressive piece of software. It allows managers design workflows on the fly, and it integrates with Blackberry servers, sharepoint, salesforce.com or other IT solutions like SAP. The main advantage of the software is its flexibility, time-to-deployement (2 weeks) and its transactions reporting ability. Companies can then track what their employees are doing and then analyze/improve their productivity. WorkflowGen is actually used by hundreds of organizations worldwide, such as HP, Yale University, Deloitte, Saint-Gobain or Sodexho.
With such a product, Advantys becomes a IT solution provider heavyweight. The software reminds me so much of the IT companies in France, with their focus on Sarbanes Oxley, ISO standards and COBIT. Actually, with further research, I realized that Advantys started in France, with offices in Paris and in Montréal. WorkflowGen is their flagship product and they are using Quebec as a marketing bridge towards North America, much alike Danone is doing. I wish them all the best for WorkflowGen and hope they grow an engineering staff in Montreal as well.
