Robin Millette, the 2007 organizer of SQIL, has just posted major updates to the SQIL website.

SQIL 2007

SQIL (Semaine Québecoise de l’Informatique Libre) stands for Quebec Week for Free Software. This year’s theme is sustainable development, and it will start Saturday 15th September 2007.

If you are involved in programming or technology, you are surely using Free Software. (Ultra)Classical examples are Apache server, mySQL and the different linux distributions, but you also have to recognize that Free Software has become mainstream with projects like Firefox, Thunderbird or Blender, all highly superior projects to their direct commercial competitors.

This is then a great opportunity to repay back the community. You may think that it is too early to talk about SQIL, but there are a lot to do. See a list of possible tasks/roles for SQIL. You can open an account and start today. Leave a comment if you are not sure about what to do.

More detailed updates will come later on MTW.
